UNUSUAL GOODS NEED TO BE TRANSPORTED IN UNUSUAL WAYS
Twisted Loading
- 1 hour
- 5 - 10 participants in one team
Players take on the role of employees of the “Twisted Loading” company, which specializes in container transport of unusual shipments. Players work together as a team and their task is to fill the ship’s deck with containers of various shapes.
There are some restrictions in the game – during loading, players cannot communicate with each other, they can place only 1 container at a time, and have limited time to complete the loading.
An additional complication is that on board the ship, certain areas are marked as dangerous – there has been damage to the deck and it is better to avoid these areas. Players are also held accountable for the number of containers that have been turned from their starting position.
At the end of each round, players find out how many penalty points they have earned: for over-turning containers, for each occupied dangerous area, and for each container they failed to place on the ship.
Each round ends with a discussion summarizing what went well and what needs to be changed. Players decide together which adjustments to implement before the next round.
How will they use it? Will they become more and more effective?
Twisted loading is an excellent choice for:
- Team integration - participants will have a chance to get to know each other in action in a safe game environment
- Teambuilding - the game can be used to establish rules of cooperation and communication in a tea for future use,
- Discuss the challenges faced by the team during project collaboration (and plan improvements),
- Improving collaboration skills in talent programs and management training,
- Teams that face communication difficulties, need to improve their feedback culture and want to get better at working together.
Participants experience:
- Working together for a common goal,
- Learning from mistakes and improving processes,
- The role of feedback in the team,
- Making decisions and planning under time pressure,
- Challenges of communication in project work.
Training games and simulations are my favorite work tools. They engage, trigger emotions, and allow you to have fun. On top of that, they illustrate in a simplified way the situations and phenomena I encounter while performing everyday tasks. A well-conducted discussion, in turn, is an invitation to reflect on and improve the functioning of the team.
